About

Hi,

My name is Asteria, and I’m the writer behind Kismet Flame.

Numinous Beginnings

Unknown from Pinterest

My journey into divination and occult goings-on started as a child, when my mother would read my horoscopes in the paper. Ever since then, I’ve only gotten more curious about what lies beyond the veil, pregnant with mysteries yet untold. Of course, the internet has all these resources, so I scoured and learned and applied.

I first encountered tarot when I was in high school. Due to shame and religious upbringing, I didn’t pick it up until college. I decided to buy my first tarot deck out of curiosity: the Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan. I was captivated by the imagery, more so than the original Rider-Waite Smith. I liked how similarly it reflected the original, so I purchased it with glee. When I got my new deck in my hands, I was very glad to realize these are just pieces of pretty cardstock. And yet, I knew that this was something very special.

Almost 10 years later, I’m still slinging cards.

About Kismet Flame

Ace of Cups from the Wildwood Tarot

I created this cyberspace to talk about my creative loves. One of them is tarot, yes, but also things that inspire me, that tug at my heart, and deserve attention and reflection. Kismet Flame is a place where art, culture, literature, and music converge, sometimes through a mystical lens.

This is a place for card slingers, intuitive iconoclasts, rosy-eyed mystics and basically any outcast who keeps a soft heart and fierce spirit.

So,… welcome, and I hope you find what you’re looking for.
